I’m Graham, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying). I obtained my undergraduate degree in Philosophy with a minor in Religion and Culture. I enjoy thinking deeply about many of life’s important questions and how our answers to these questions impact the way we live our lives. After completing my undergraduate degree, I built a tiny house on wheels and started a small construction business. During this time, I also began the Master’s in Counselling program at Yorkville University.
I was drawn to counselling by an inner calling to help others. I see counselling as an opportunity for reflection, change, and growth. I seek to provide an open, non-judgmental space for contemplation and dialogue as we navigate the many challenges we face in life. Some of these challenges might include depression, anxiety, trauma, stress, burnout, parenting, relationships, anger, nihilism, and emotional regulation, to name a few.
I find myself drawn to four counselling approaches: Client-Centred, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused, and Existential Therapy. The Client-Centred approach is an empathetic method that empowers clients to lead their own growth process. Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) explores the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, helping clients recognize patterns that may be contributing to their struggles and develop more helpful ways of responding. The Solution-Focused approach is a goal-directed method that focuses on solutions and possibilities rather than dwelling on problems for too long. Existential Therapy explores the relationship between meaning and responsibility and how we can make the most of the short time we have on this earth.
Together, these approaches help foster a collaborative and contemplative framework that creates space for meaningful reflection, change, and growth.
